Holy Week begins on 29 March with our Palm Sunday service marking the entry of Jesus to Jerusalem to the great welcome of the people. We remember that this joy and welcome soon turns into shouts for Jesus’ death. We receive palm crosses today; the Easter cross will be situated outside the church; palm crosses can be placed on this cross as a public testimony to the darkness of betrayal and crucifixion to which Jesus was heading.
As Easter approaches you will notice changes to the cross which stands in the church garden. It will be draped with purple for Palm Sunday, stand as a bare cross for Good Friday, then on Easter Sunday it will be covered with flowers as a sign of rejoicing.
On Easter Saturday we invite families to explore the church in an Easter Hunt. There will be a reward for every child and there will be refreshments. There is no charge for this event.
Our Easter Day celebrations begin with our Easter breakfast in the Abbey Hall at 9am when we gather together to celebrate together. At 10.30am we gather in church for Holy Communion. Before and after the service you are invited to place flowers in the cross outside the church as signs of the wonder of Jesus’ resurrection!
Everyone is very welcome to come and join us.
